Book Review #12 / The Accident

The Accident by CL Taylor

If I was judging a book by it's cover, then I probably wouldn't have chosen to read this. I just don't like the black background and the chunky, capitalised text. But the fact it was only £2, teamed with a super suspenseful synopsis, meant I decided to give it a go. And I'm really glad I did as I managed to finish this in just one sitting!

Why It's Hard To 'Live For The Now'

Live for the now, Someday is here and now - make the most of it, Live today because yesterday is over and tomorrow may never come. I could go on and on with the classic, inspirational quotes about life that you read - accept they make sense - yet struggle to actually act on them. I'm the worst culprit. I understand that you should make the most of today but there always seems to be something standing in the way...

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Gobi Review

NARS is a brand I have admired from a distance for quite some time now. I've heard so many rave reviews about their products yet never actually took the plunge and made a purchase. After realising my current foundation was far too dark for me, I decided it was time to try out a whole new one and NARS was at the top of my wish list. At first, I wanted to go for the much talked about Sheer Glow but I just couldn't seem to find the shade Gobi in stock anywhere so I eventually decided to go with their newer offering; All Day Luminous Weightless. And, well, I'm a little undecided...

Book Review #11 / We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves

Books with a twist are probably my favourite kind of book. Especially those twists that you just do not see coming and actually have to re-read the page to double check it really happened. We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves did just that and had me seriously gripped from start to finish...

Is Photography Valued More Than Writing In Blogging?

Writing is my number one passion and I feel like words just come naturally to me. Photography, on the other hand, doesn't. When I started blogging, back in November, I had no idea how much time and effort I would spend on photography. That I'd literally jump out of bed at 8am on a Saturday morning to try and get some snaps whilst the sun is shining and that I'd take about 50 photos of a lipstick from different angles before I got the perfect shot. Whilst I'd like to think my writing manages to engage readers, I'm a little more apprehensive on the photography front. When my Bloglovin feed is filled with crisp, clear photos that look like they've been lifted from the pages of a glossy magazine, I can't help but feel a bit of an amateur, in comparison...

Blogs I'm Currently Loving

With the sheer amount of blogs there are today, I'm constantly stumbling across, and falling in love with, new ones on a daily basis. I thought I'd share the love a bit and have handpicked a few which have really stood out for me lately so you can discover them too (if you haven't already, of course...)

Book Review #10 / 14,000 Things To Be Happy About

 photo 100_2376 1_zps06iyhl6r.jpg

As some of you may know, I set myself a little challenge at the beginning of 2015 to read a book a week and then review each one on my blog. So far, all the books I've read have been standard fiction novels so I thought I'd mix things up a bit this week with this lovely little book by Barbara Ann Kipfer: 14,000 Things To Be Happy About. It does what it says on the tin and is basically an epic list of things to be happy about; from the obvious, to the completely quirky...

Is It Impossible To Stand Out In The Blogosphere?

It's 12pm on a Thursday, as I write this post, and guess what the top trending hashtag in the UK is? Yep, #bbloggers. You can guarantee something about bloggers is nearly always trending no matter what time of day, on Twitter, which is just one piece of evidence of how many of us there actually are out there. With such a crazy amount of bloggers vying to get attention, is it possible to stand out from the crowd in such an over-saturated market?

Book Review #9 / The Boy That Never Was

 photo 100_2486_zpsdrnujuzy.jpg

Sunday's book review almost didn't happen again this week as I left it until Saturday morning to actually begin reading this thriller by Karen Perry. If you want some proof that perseverance pays off, then this book is a good example as I was so ready to admit defeat, about halfway in, but then it suddenly got really, really good...

20 Little Things That Make Me Happy

I hate to say it, but I'm definitely a cup half empty kinda gal - and I'm trying to make a concious effort to change that this year. I recently bought the book 14,000 Things To Be Happy About and, reading through it, realised that there are so many little things that put a smile on my face. So, being the list lover I am,  I compiled my own list of the things that make me happy (don't worry there's not 14,000 things on this one!)

Soap & Glory Archery D-I-Y Brow Bar Review

As someone with barely-there blonde brows, it can be incredibly hard to find a suitable eyebrow product. I need one that's not too warm yet not too ashy, easy to use and doesn't look too harsh and scouse brow-esque. That's not too much to ask, right? I bought this latest Soap & Glory addition on a bit of a whim, after being lured into a 3 for 2 offer, but I was left pleasantly surprised by this nifty little brow kit...

Book Review #8 / Without You

Without You by Saskia Sarginson

I have to confess that I almost failed the 'read a book a week' challenge I set myself at the beginning of 2015, this week. When it got to Saturday and I hadn't even started a new read I was just about ready to admit defeat. Until I picked up Saskia Sarginson's intense thriller/drama 'Without You' and found myself unable to put it down all day (only stopping for food and tea breaks...)
