Things To Remember When You're Having A Crap Day

Okay, so we all have those seriously crappy days where everything seems to go wrong and we just feel like crawling into bed and never seeing the world again. But let's be honest, the longer we stay in these moods, the worse we will feel. Here's a few things to consider when it feels like everything is going to shit...

1) Someone out there will be having a much worse day than you are
There is always someone in a worse situation than you. It's hard to think like this when you feel like everything is going wrong but just try and remember that there will be somebody out there who is dealing with much worse.

2) There is probably something you can learn from today
A lot of the time, crappy days are kind of out of our control. It might be a customer or colleague that's pissed you off or public transport than showed up late and meant you missed something important. But there will usually be something you can take from the day that you can 'learn' from. Maybe it's simply reminding yourself that you should finally learn to drive so you don't have to rely on buses/trains or perhaps it's realising that you simply can't please everyone. Bad days can often lead to those life-changing epiphanies.

3) Everything is temporary
The day is going to end. It's not going to last forever. Before you know it, you'll be in bed with a cup of tea wondering what you were ever so wound up about. 

4) It's okay to have a bad day
Everyone has them - I'm sure even Beyonce does! Don't beat yourself up over it - just think about how you can try and make it better and what you might be able to learn from it.

5) In a years time, will you even remember this day?
What seems like the worst thing ever right now will probably be completely irrelevant in no time. Don't waste your energy feeling shitty about something that is so insignificant. 

6) It's okay if you want to cry
It's not a sign of weakness and even if it's something trivial that you're crying about, it can be good to just let it all out, sometimes. I actually feel so much better after having a good cry as it feels like everything that's been building up inside of me can finally be let out.

7) Nobody's life is perfect
Don't start comparing your life to someone else's. There's nothing worse than browsing through Instagram and seeing someone on the beach with a cocktail as you're sat in the pouring rain waiting for a bus that's already half an hour late. But that's just one tiny part of their life that they're documenting - don't compare your entire life to someone else's carefully selected highlights. 
8) Think of something you're thankful for
Whether it's your partner, a friend, a family member, the house you live in or simply how good that coffee was you had this morning - think of something that you are thankful for and try to focus on that instead of concentrating on the negatives.
9) Crap days are needed to make the good days even better
Having a really crap day will make you appreciate all the other days which are actually pretty average but just seem so much better, in comparison. If everything went swimmingly, every single day, wouldn't you get a bit bored?

10) A cup of tea/coffee will make everything better
Okay not everyone likes it but, for me, sitting down with a hot drink always makes me feel better. When I get home from a bad day, I like to throw my pyjamas on, curl up on the sofa with a latte and clear my mind for 10 minutes. Bliss.
