A Few Face Mask Faves

I absolutely adore using face masks when it gets to the colder months. There's just something seriously relaxing about having a nice, hot bath with some form of cream slathered all over your face, isn't there?

The only thing I don't like about is face masks is that panic of whether or not they're going to do what they claim to do - or just make your face break out like hell. So, once I've found a face mask that actually works - I tend to stick to it.

These are my trusty top masks - the ones I'll turn to in time of need and know they won't let me down...

Lush Mask of Magnaminty Face & Body Mask
I tend to opt for this slimy green number when I'm a bit spotty and/or oily. The texture and colour of this mask can be quite off putting at first as it's very thick, green and filled with exfoliating grains. But it does what it's supposed to do. I usually put this on if I can feel a few spots brewing or they've just started to rear their ugly head and this minty miracle worker helps to put them at bay. I really like the minty smell, too.

Clarins HydraQuench Cream Mask
I'll be honest here. I've never actually bought this mask. I just always seem to get decent sized samples of it for free whenever I buy anything else from Clarins and have managed to build up a nice little sample stash of it. I really love this face mask though - mainly because it doesn't even feel like a face mask. You don't need to worry about having to get it off your face asap if someone knocks on the door or go into a mild panic if you accidentally fall asleep with it on (I usually do use this as an overnight mask). It's essentially just a thick moisturiser that you can use alone, or mixed in with your moisturiser, to just give your skin a little boost if it's feeling a bit dehydrated. It always leaves my face feeling really silky and smooth and my make up tends to sink in a lot better after using it, as well.

Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask*
I'd been lusting over this mask for ages so I was really happy when I was gifted one. I'm a huge fan of Antipodes products - pretty much any I've tried have worked well with my skin and this wasn't an exception. I love how luxurious this face mask feels - like the Clarins one, it does just feel like a really thick moisturiser but the scent is gorgeous and it just feels so nice on your skin. It leaves my face feeling seriously smooth and it actually does help blemishes and redness a bit too which surprised me. This is probably the best all rounder face mask I've used.

Lush Cup O'Coffee Face & Body Mask
I picked up this lil beauty in the Lush Oxford Street store as I'd never managed to get my hands on it up in Leeds! I'm a sucker for a good coffee and I love the smell of the freshly brewed stuff so I knew I had to have this. Like the Mask of Magnaminty mask, it's a very grainy face mask - I personally really like this as you can feel it getting to work on your skin but, if you have very sensitive skin, it might not be the one for you. It's also not the prettiest face mask as it's a murky brown colour with specks of black running throughout. I don't know if it's just because of the smell of coffee or what but I always feel like this face mask makes me feel much more awake and alert. It also really helps with making my skin look less dull and more radiant and my boyfriend says it helps to get rid of the blackheads on his nose!

What's your favourite face mask?
