Hello guys, long time no blog! I literally have no real reason for why I just took a month long hiatus but hey ho, these things happen, I guess. I just thought I'd touch in with you all because I feel like, if I don't, people may forget I exist forever so, hello! I'm still here!
So what's been going on? Not much, to be fair. I just sort of forgot about my blog and social media in general. I've been finding it really hard to think of things to post about lately. I used to post photos daily on Instagram, too, but lately I've been lucky to post twice a week. I just kind of get caught up in life, sometimes, and forget just how quickly time goes! But here's a brief catch up (if anyone actually cares haha)...
- Making big life decisions
One thing that's been on my mind lately is my living situation. Josh and I want to buy a house but have always said we want to wait until next year when we're in a good place financially and just feel like we'll have more of an idea of what we want. This sort of changed when our landlord said he was going to sell our flat that we currently rent. We suddenly felt like we had to move asap and didn't feel like renting somewhere else so started looking for places to buy. I realised, though, that we were rushing and buying a house isn't exactly something you want to just rush into! Luckily, the landlord has said he is hoping not to sell, after all, so we're hoping we can stay here for a while longer until we feel like we are ready to move and get on the property ladder. Or, if we absolutely had to leave our current place, we could try find somewhere to rent short term in the mean time!
- Having a spring refresh
The landlord has also said we can paint and he'll refund all the costs which is fab as the main thing I hate about renting is MAGNOLIA WALLS. Honestly, why are they even a thing? Just paint the walls white ffs! So for the next few weekends we'll be doing a bit of decorating and just making the place look a bit fresher. I know we may not be living here for loads longer but even just having bright, white walls for a few months would make me happy. No more having to try my hardest to attempt to make my backgrounds look white for Instagram!
- We booked a holiday!
In the midst of all the housing drama, we decided to book a holiday to take the edge off haha! I ended up just having a bit of a mosey around the Thomson website and saw that there were some good deals for holidays in Sorrento (somewhere I've wanted to go for ages) and there was an extra £100 off at that time too! We didn't really want to do a 'package-style' holiday, this year, but sometimes they do just make things easier when your flight, hotel booking and transfers are all with the same provider - and, due to the money off, it was cheaper than booking things separately! It's still not a fly to a hotel, eat there, sunbathe there and never leave for a week type of holiday so it's all good. We'll be staying by the marina in Sorrento but still want to explore Capri, Pompeii, Positano and anywhere else nearby! Please feel free to leave any recommendations for places to visit, restaurants to eat in and what not if you have any :)
- Realising that people can be dicks
I've had a few situations recently where people just annoy me and I feel like these kind of situations, in hindsight, happen for a reason as it stops you from ever acting like that yourself. For example, my Mum and I went to get our brows done at Benefit the other week and we never even sat down to have them done as, upon arriving at the counter, were just told 'she's on her break' by 3 moody looking counter staff when we said we were here for our appointments. It may seem like something or nothing but it just really annoyed me and we just walked out and never came back! My Mum has never had her brows done before so I think their attitude just made her even more nervous than she already was. Having worked on a beauty counter myself, I do often feel like counter girls get a lot of bad press. People tend to think that we just stand there, wearing a full face of make up, not really doing nothing and this couldn't be further from the truth in most cases! But, being on the other side of the counter -as a customer - I saw how a bad attitude and a lack of friendliness can really put people off. I wouldn't ever go to that particular branch again which is a shame as I actually really liked my brows the last time they did them! Moral of the story: it doesn't hurt to just be polite, sometimes, and it made me realise how little things can really make or break someones day!
What have you all been up to?
B x
