How To: Make Some Extra Money On The Internet

With Christmas around the corner, December can be an expensive month! With that in mind, here's a few tips to help add some extra pennies to your purse - all from the comfort of your own home...

We're all guilty of spending far too much time on the internet aimlessly scrolling through Instagram or playing on Facebook games so why not spend some of that time making a bit of extra cash? Here are just a few ways I gain some money whilst sat on the sofa! Obviously, none of it will make you a millionaire overnight but, as a certain supermarket says, every little helps...

1. Cashback
If you don't already, you have to sign up for a cashback site! I am signed up to Quidco and TopCashBack but use TopCashBack the most. I'm sure most of you know what cashback sites are, but for anyone who doesn't, they basically pay you every time you buy something or sign up to a website through them. So next time you're planning a big ASOS or Topshop splurge, just go to a cashback site first, type in the name of the retailer and then click their link. As long as you make the purchase straight away (ie. not cross off the page and then open it again) your cashback will be tracked. TopCashBack usually email you within minutes to let you know it's worked. This process literally takes an extra 30 seconds and means you will have a few more pennies in your pocket. TopCashback offers cashback for thousands of retailers so it's always worth checking, even if you're buying from a smaller retailer. I do most of my Christmas shopping online so I always check if I can get cashback before making my order. I've made over a hundred pounds this year so, to me, this is just free money as I would have bought all these items anyway with or without cashback. The money can take a few months to be made payable but once it's ready they will email you and you can then choose whether to claim it as a bank payment, through PayPal or as a gift card of some kind. I nearly always choose to get mine as Tesco clubcard points as these can then be quadrupled for things such as restaurant vouchers. So, £5 of free cashback would turn into a £20 Pizza Express voucher!
(If you have an ad blocker, make sure it's paused as this will prevent cashback being tracked.)

2. Survey sites
I've used survey sites for years and have found some are a total waste of time but some are definitely worth doing. The only ones I really use nowadays are Valued Opinions and YouGov. Valued Opinions is my favourite by far. Once signed up, they'll send you surveys almost daily - sometimes more than once a day. Each survey will usually pay you between 50p - £2 on average and they can take anywhere between a minute to about 20 minutes to complete (dependant on the amount of payment). Obviously, they can be very boring as some of them tend to be repetitive and are about things such as insurance providers but others often offer you free products to test out and pay you for it! With Valued Opinions, once you've reached £10.50 you can claim a £10 voucher. They offer Boots, Arcadia, M&S, Amazon and many more. I usually claim around £20 a month on average which isn't a fortune but means you can treat yourself each month, guilt-free. YouGov, on the other hand, takes a lot longer to build up as they don't send you surveys as often but once you've built up £50 you can withdraw it.

3. Ebay
Bit of an obvious one, but Ebay is such a great way to make money and you'd be surprised at some of the stuff that people buy! I've often put up clothes which were quite cheap to begin with and have ended up making more money than what I paid for them in the first place... crazy! Always make sure you take loads of photos and state if there are any problems with the item such as some fading on a pair of jeans or a scratch on some sunglasses. If you're not honest, the buyer may ask for a refund and give you negative feedback which could impact on future sales. I've found the best time to sell items on Ebay is a Sunday evening as this is when most people are at home browsing the internet.
I hope you've found this post helpful and I'm always on the lookout for new ways to gain or save a bit of cash so send me any tips you have :)

    1. To be honest, I work in a betting shop and if I'm not doing blogging bits then I'm just sitting here, I could easily just like you said do them through the month and earn myself some boots vouchers, Imagine saving them up and buying everyones christmas presents and not having to spend a penny?! Say each one I did was only 50p, 21 surveys a month, ( thats not even 1 a day ) would get me that £10.50! Its great - I'm signing up as we speak lol xx
