Essential Items You Need In Your A/W Wardrobe

Back on the capsule wardrobe hype again, I'm here with my picks that I think are perfect for any autumn/winter wardrobe. I'm all about layering, in the colder seasons, and like to go for clothes that can easily be mixed and matched with each other - and I think these items defo fit the bill. Throw in a pair of tights, leggings and/or jeans and a big ol' warm coat and you're set for the season with these essential items that will make you look uber cool and can easily be worn on the repeat...

The chunky scarf (1 & 9)
Chunky scarves are the best because they have the ability to conceal a crap outfit and make you look instantly chic. I often think £20+ plus is a bit steep for a scarf but then I remember that I'll get loads of wear out of them. 1 and 9 are both River Island numbers and I definitely feel like I need them both in my life...

The oversized slogan jumper (2 & 8)
Jumpers are my fave thing to wear when it gets cold. I especially like oversized baggy ones that can just be thrown on with a pair of leggings or skinny jeans. I've been loving the slogan ones Topshop keep adding to their collection at the moment.

The high neck tunic dress (3)
I bought this grey tunic dress from Topshop a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely adore it. It's just a really basic item but it fits perfectly and is bang on trend with it's high neck. It looks great with a pair of black tights and ankle boots for day and, if you're planning on going out, you could easily jazz it up with some heels and jewellery. At £20, I think it's a must have. I'm defo stocking up on more colours!

The striped tee (4)
Everyone needs a striped tee in their wardrobe. No matter what season, a striped tee is always my fall back top of choice when I don't know what to wear. Paired with jeans and a leather jacket, it can do no wrong.

The suede skirt (5)
I'm not much of a skirt wearer but I love suede skirts as I think they're really flattering. They don't cling to you like a lot of other materials and the brown/khaki shades just scream 'Autumnal'. Like the tunic dress, you could easily wear this for day or night. This little Tesco number is a bargain at £12, too.

The checked shirt (6)
You can never really go wrong with a checked shirt can you? The perfect layering item for when you're not too sure just how cold it is, out there.

The ankle boot (7)
Because when it gets chilly out there you need shoes that will cover your feet. None of this ballet pump business. Ankle boots are my favourite shoe to wear ever because they literally go with everything and look so stylish. I'm swooning over these tan ones from Topshop at the moment which are also available in grey and black.
